As we settle in to our fortnightly releases find that our development has temporarily slowed. This is because we’re refining our processes to write better updates, and preparing to grow the team so that we can deliver even finer releases, faster, in the future.
Steady and consistent bug fixing and improvements has been at the core of Jetpack CRM since the start of our journey. We continue this and in April fixing 10 bugs, improving 5 areas and adding custom fields to the single Company view.
It’s been a challenging month, maintaining velocity in the face of all of the change, but we’re doing our best here, and we hope you are able to keep your businesses afloat too.
As we settle into this unusual year we hunker down with our goal of consistent updates. In March Jetpack CRM has seen 22 fixes, 15 improvements and 10 additions, as well as decent progress with the Mail Campaigns v2 public release.
Rather than adding any big features this month, the focus has been on refinement & working through the remaining (smaller) v3.0 bugs, alongside work on Mail Campaigns v2.0.
This year we’re determined to bring back our monthly CRM Product Update posts. After the busyness of the past year, we’re finally settling back into a reliable development cycle, which will mean we can contribute a lot to the CRM you’re using to run your business.
Right now we’re hammering on with v3.0 refinements & bug fixes, and we’re also making a start on the release version of Mail Campaigns v2.
V3.0 was a huge release for us, and while there have been a handful of snags (which we’re working on resolving, or have resolved), we’re happy to say that it was a fairly successful transition, and should pave the way for a much more solid CRM in future.
Wow, our last Product Update was in April 2019. The hiatus has been linked to a couple of things
- We were acquired by Automattic – so things fell a little quiet since then and
- We were building v3.0 of Jetpack CRM which primarily was a lot of behind the scenes improvements
With both of these out of the way – we are happy to get back to our regular product updates as we add new features and keep stepping on those pesky bugs.
This update covers what happened CRM wise in January 2020.
We’re happy to announce that we’ve now released v3.0 of Jetpack CRM for WordPress.
European Payments are changing meaning at some point in the near future*, when accepting card payments online – your implementation may need additional authentication that the person making the payment is who they say they are. This is called strong customer authentication (or SCA)
Jetpack CRM: Invoicing Pro uses Stripe to accept card payments, and as such now uses Stripe’s SCA ready checkout.
Stripe Checkout is a page hosted by Stripe which handles all of the additional checks you may need to do before taking payments.

What has changed in Jetpack CRM
In Invoicing Pro, from version 2.6 you’ll now see a new Payments tab, this has an additional setting for Stripe Webhook Signing Secret (here’s how you set that up).
Be sure to also double check your stripe secret key and your stripe public key which you get from your Stripe developer settings.
Once you’re set up, now when you create an invoice, with line items, and have Stripe as the payment option, the flow is as follows.
Create your invoice the usual way
Clicking Pay Now brings you to Stripe checkout
This is automatically generated to match the invoice items (they’re even on the breakdown) and you have various options to pay (Stripe allow card, and Google Pay).
Following successful payment, the customer is brought back to your website and it’s confirmed that payment has taken place.
Webhooks do the rest
The Stripe webhook in your Stripe account does the rest, as long as you’ve added your webhook signing secret as per the guide (and have added the webhook endpoint as per the guide). You’re good to go.
It’s been a long time coming, but we’re now able to share our release schedule for v3.0 of Jetpack CRM:

- Friday 29th November: Release Candidate 2 (RC2)
- Friday 6th December: Formal v3.0 Release

Welcome to the Jetpack CRM Product Update for April 2019. This is the 24th monthly update. That’s right, we’ve hit the 2 year mark where we’ve been regularly providing you with updates about the CRM development.

Zero BS Core
We’re now finalising our release candidates for version 3.0 of Jetpack CRM. We’ve made big strides over April and have done a lot of pre-launch preparations in the extensions. This means, you may have even started noticing some additions to extensions already, which have been the result of the preparations and refinement across the board of extensions.
In the core updates in April, we’ve now reached version 2.99.2 which gets us ever closer to v3.0 of Jetpack CRM.
Zero BS Data Tools
We’ve added the ability for Site Administrators to reset the CRM and remove the data from the tables. This is useful if you’ve been testing the CRM and want to start fresh.
We’ve also fixed a lot of issues this month related to refinements and code refactoring. We’ve fixed some bugs in segments, as well as made them find contacts when the criteria included special characters (such as accents).
We’ve also fixed a display issue where if a user pasted in an activity log containing the character “<” it would cause issues in display and operation.
Finally, we fixed some issues with Task Notification emails, meaning that emails were not going out reliably, and did not include enough information about the upcoming task.
We’ve made some big feature improvements to the extensions over April, with a particular focus on WooSync, which is our popular integration with WooCommerce.
When running WooCommerce, your customers have an “Account” area, and with Jetpack CRM they also have the Client Portal.
We’ve now made it optional
Invoices in WooCommerce
We’ve also refined the Invoice flow when orders are created in WooCommerce which result in an “Unpaid” invoice status. Previously Jetpack CRM would think these invoices should be paid via Jetpack, however since they’re WooCommerce orders, they should be checked out via the Store.
We’ve made it so that if an invoice is created from a WooCommerce order, but still needs to be paid, then it’ll show a “Pay Now” button on the invoice, taking you to the WooCommerce order page to pay.
We’ve also added support for WooCommerce Deposits, which lets you create orders set up with deposit structures and these will be added into Jetpack CRM with the respective value and order status.
